[ale] Problem with udev

This is a strange on for me...

I have a SLES site where all of the servers failed a udev update, and now I have two versions of udev installed.
I've tried to remove the old version of udev, but the process just hangs, with zypper or with the Yast install program.
If I try to do a force reinstall of the new version with zypper, it tries to resolve the the issue by first uninstalling the old version, but hangs at that point.
Has anyone seen anything like this, or have any ideas?
