I've not followed this thread closely enough to note who started it. 
Anyway, if you're hard up for cash to purchase the books, I'll go
through my library here and see what I've got along the lines of OO as
well as C++/Java.  If you're local, I'll loan to you what I'm not using
and you're interested.  Let me know if you're game first, because my C++
is pretty deep in the cabinet since I don't work with it right now.
