[ale] slow floppies

I have a lilo boot disk and it boots up slowly on some machines.?? I've noticed thin on Toshiba laptops and DG Avion boxes.?? It can take as much as 3 minutes or more to load a 600k kernel.?? On a nice clone, it can take less then 30 seconds to load that kernel.?? Is there a setting that needs to be placed in the lilo.conf file?
