[ale] modules-info

Could someone please shed some light on the modules-info file in the /boot
directory of RedHat? This file appears to be specific to the kernel (sym
link to a name reflecting the kernel version). So far, I have not been
able to find any information on this file. I would like to install the
2.2.9 kernel.
