If I understand LCD hardware correctly, the available resolution is a
function of the LCD panel itself. Check the mfg specs, if it is an XGA
screen it should be able to do 1024x768. If not, your probably stuck
with the 800x600. Strangely enough, many of the graphics adapters in
the newer laptops can drive higher resolutions on an external CRT
connected to the video port.
