ginstar (www.ginstar.com) up at Jimmy Carter blvd has a 10/100 card for $16. 
It seems to work pretty well under NT.  I haven't tried it under linux, yet,
but there is a readme file for linux that has a pointer to some drivers.

I haven't tried to do any benchmarking.
